SCAO offers three levels at which you may register as a court interpreter. Register as a:
All registered interpreters must have completed the Michigan Court Interpreter Orientation and abide by the Code of Professional Conduct for Foreign Language Court Interpreters in Michigan Courts.
Interpreter registrations must be renewed annually by September 1. Registrations received after September 1 are automatically assessed a $100 late fee. A registration is not considered received until payment has been received. Payments made by check or money order must be post-marked no later than September 1.
Interpreters who previously registered but did not renew their registration for more than one renewal period, may request reinstatement of their registration.
For example, an interpreter who registered in the 2017/2018 renewal year but did not renew their registration in the 2018/2019 renewal period, may apply for reinstatement of their registration in 2019/2020.
The reinstatement fee is $90.
